Drunk arrested in town centre

'He wouldn't calm down'

A MAN ejected from the Diamond Tap bar in Newbury was so aggressive he had to be arrested, town magistrates heard.

Sven Gucwa also kicked over a plant pot as he was leaving the pub in Cheap Street, the court was told on Thursday, March 24.

Helen Waite, prosecuting, said: “He was highly agitated and wouldn’t calm down.

“Eventually he had to be arrested.”

Mr Gucwa, aged 20, of Falkland Garth, Newbury, admitted a charge of being drunk and disorderly on Sunday, February 21.

He has no previous convictions, but had been given a conditional caution for causing criminal damage, the court heard.

Mr Gucwa, who was representing himself, told magistrates: “It’s true – I was drunk and aggressive.”

He was fined £85 and ordered to pay £85 costs plus a £20 victim surcharge.
