Dutch lorry driver arrested after A4 collision
Incident on the A4 in Kintbury has seen the road closed for over 8 hours
A 32-year-old Dutch lorry driver has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving following a collision on the A4 near Kintbury this morning.
The incident occurred at around 4.30am, but the road has remained closed for over eight hours while police investigate and a spillage at the scene is cleared.
Thames Valley Police spokesman Leo Tarring said police were alerted at 4.39am after two lorries collided at the A4 crossroads at Kintbury near the Ramada hotel, halfway between Newbury and Hungerford.
Fire and ambulance attended the scene to aid one person who had been trapped in a vehicle.
One person, a 49-year-old male, was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading with injuries not thought to be life threatening.
The impact of the crash has caused fuel to spill over the road, which highways teams are working to clear.
Having caused hours of misery for motorists, it is not known when the road will re-open.
