E-fit released following distraction burglary spate





Thames Valley Police has confirmed that they are linking all the burglaries which happened on Thursday, August 8.
The first burglary happened in Fern Close, Calcot, at about 10.45am, where a female elderly victim answered the door to a man who claimed he was doing plumbing work next door and needed to test the water.
The victim went to her kitchen with the man and after a while she noticed another man in the house. The victim became suspicious and the men left. The victim discovered £150 was missing.
The first man is white, in his forties, approximately 5ft 7ins tall and of medium build. He was wearing a grey shirt.
The second offender is white and younger than the first man.
The second burglary happened at about 11am in Lansdowne Road, Tilehurst.
The elderly victim answered the door to a man who claimed he was fitting a kitchen at a neighbour’s house and needed to access the water supply.
They went to the kitchen and the victim noticed a second man had entered his lounge.
The victim’s phone rang and both of the men immediately left, driving off in a dark saloon vehicle.
The victim discovered his house had been searched but nothing had been taken.
The first man is white, between 30 and 40-years-old, about 5ft 7ins to 5ft 8ins and of a slight build.
He had sharp facial features and auburn hair described as a ‘normal cut’. He was wearing a shirt and tie.
The second man is white, 5ft 10in to 5ft 11in, between 30 and 40-years old, of a heavier build than the first man, with a round face and no facial hair.
A third distraction burglary then took place at Windsor Court in Tilehurst Road at about 12pm and a fourth at 1.20pm on Wokingham Road.
