Reading Magistrates’ Court: Newbury e-scooter rider refused breath test
A MAN has his driving licence revoked for refusing a breath test while riding an e-scooter.
In the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, May 30, was Jacob Oakley.
The 21-year-old, of St John’s Road, Newbury, initially denied refusing a breath test when suspected of drink-driving on an eletric scooter in Newbury on December 26 last year.
He also denied using the machine without insurance on the same occasion.
But he changed his mind at the last minute before trial and admitted both offences.
Mr Oakley also has previous convictions and is currently subject to a Criminal Behaviour Order.
He was fined £100.
In addition, Mr Oakley was ordered to pay £250 costs, plus a statutory victim services surcharge.
Finally, Mr Oakley was banned from driving for 12 months.
