East Garston Film Society presents new season of cinema listings





The Valley Film Society will commence its 17th season of screenings at East Garston Village Hall in November.

Inaugurating the new season is a matinee screening of the British comedy drama, The Duke (2020), starring Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren, at 2.30pm on Tuesday, November 1. Doors open at 2pm.

Nine films will be shown on the first Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm from November until July. Doors open at 7pm.

Please visit www.valleyfilmsociety.org to see this season's listings, which include psychological biopic Spencer (2021), coming of age story Belfast (2021) and Operation Mincemeat (2021), retelling the true British plot to deceive the Nazis.

Another planned screening will include British comedy, The Quiet Weekend, which was filmed around East Garston and Inkpen in 1946 amid ongoing postwar austerity.

All films will be shown with subtitles and refreshments are provided, taking cash only. Nippy Chippy takeaway can be pre-ordered for the interval on the door up to 7.20pm.

Entry costs £6 or £32 for seasonal membership. Visitors can fill in a membership form in advance and bring this along to any screening.

The VFS, formed in 2005, exhibits films from a range of directors, countries and genres and is an approved member of the British Federation of Film Societies.
