East Woodhay society boosts cancer centre funds by over £1,000
EAST Woodhay Society has boosted funds for a local cancer charity by £1,125, thanks to the efforts of members.
The society recently (Nov 15) hosted its 3rd AGM at St Thomas’ church hall and during which chairman, John Angle presented a cheque for £1,125 to Mr Myrddin (Merv) Rees, the trustee and fundraising chairman of the Ark Cancer Centre Charity; and also medical director, North Hampshire NHS Foundation Trust.
The cheque was matched by the Greenham Common Trust, therefore the charity will receive a total of £2,250, as a result of the hard work of members of the society.
The society organises several events during the year including race nights, wine tasting, quiz nights, walking for health walks every Friday, with all profits going to their charity of the year.
Mr Angle said: "The society was pleased to have supported the Ark Cancer Centre Charity and that the society has decided to support the charity for a second year running.”
The society’s next big event will be the 30th village Christmas charity Walk on the December 27,at 11am from the Red House pub, Highclere, organised in conjunction with Los Jubilados and the Highclere Society.
