Easter Monday religious ceremony at AWE Aldermaston

They will gather at 12pm at the West Gate of AWE, where the UK’s nuclear weapons are researched and developed for Britain’s nuclear deterrent, Trident.
The ceremony involves ‘digging up the Alleluia’, which was buried on Ash Wednesday, and to pray and proceed around the Aldermaston site.
After the main liturgy and resurrection of the Alleluia, a procession will visiting each gate at AWE, where prayers will be said, bells will be rung, and flowers planted.
The flower planting honours a long-standing tradition in Christian churches to make an Easter garden to commemorate the resurrection of Christ from the dead at Easter.
Participants will walk in a anticlockwise direction round the site and the religious ceremony will also include an Agape (shared meal) at the North Gate.
“We will call for a conversion from works of death to working for life and releasing the funds and expertise used in the production of nuclear warheads at this site,” said organisers, Patricia and Michael Pulham.
They added AWE Aldermaston was the site where Trident (nuclear) warheads are made and where research is taking place for the new developments of the Trident programme and where scientists from Britain and France will carry out research and development on nuclear warheads as part of the Teutates agreement.
