Elderly man robbed and threatened in Newbury church
The incident occurred at the United Reform Church in Cromwell Place at about 5pm last Wednesday, April 25, and police are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
Two men entered the building and threatened the 73-year-old man with violence before stealing £200 and four trays of slimming pills containing phentermine and diethylpropion.
The first offender is described as white, slim, and approximately 5ft 6ins tall. He was wearing dark blue trousers, a dark hooded top with the hood up and a dark cloth covering his face.
The second offender was also white and around 6ft tall. He was wearing similar clothing to the first offender; dark trousers, a dark hooded top with the hood up and material across his mouth.
Both men spoke with a local southern accent.
The victim received no injuries.
Thames Valley Police would like to speak to anyone who recognises the description of the offenders or who saw the offenders in the area around the time of the incident.
Det Con John Yallop has also warned that the tablets could be potentially harmful if mixed or taken in large doses.
