Election battle up and running

See the Newbury Weekly News today (Thursday) for the latest news and views on the local elections

THE local election battle is well and truly up and running in West Berkshire and inside the Newbury Weekly News today (Thursday), we take a look at the issues across the district.

From joining the Conservative party on the campaign trail in Hungerford to looking at who has a battle on their hands to retain their seats, we talk to some of the runners and riders in the battle for district council control and find out why the Green Party have no candidates standing in West Berkshire this time around.

We also find out why the Apolitical Democrats and UK Independence Party feel they can offer an alternative for the people of West Berkshire at town and district council level and look at why some candidates are standing in wards outside of where they live.

Charlie Farrow and David Yates are standing in the Northcroft seat, not Falkland, as is printed in this week's paper.

In addition, we see why it will be all change at the top of Newbury Town Council, whatever happens at the polls next month.

For all this and more, see today's NWN.
