Election hopeful suffers fall

Gwen Mason has been unable to canvas in the Northcroft ward following a recent accident

WITH many election hopefuls using the recent hot weather as a chance to do some canvassing, one candidate has not been so fortunate.

One of the Liberal Democrat candidates for the Northcroft ward on West Berkshire Council, Gwen Mason, recently sustained a broken right wrist and cuts and bruising to her left arm and leg in a fall, leaving her unable to continue canvassing in the run up to the local elections on May 5.

Subsequently, she has apologised to those people she has not already spoken to during the campaign, adding: “I have currently got my arm in a sling and am walking with a crutch, so it is not possible to see as many people as I had hoped."

However, she added: “I'd like to reassure people in Northcroft that despite my injury, I am still working on casework and keeping up with what it happening in the ward.”

The other candidates for the Northcroft ward include Mauline Akins (Con), Charlie Farrow (Apolitical), Leon Larkings (Con), Gerald Orbell (Lab), Tony Vickers (Lib Dem) and David Yates (Apolitical).
