Emergency crews attend one incident during strike action today (Weds)
The strike was held from 10am to 2pm and in this period the RBFRS received five calls, one of which required attendance.
The service was alerted to a gas leak at a property in Longworth Avenue, Tilehurst, by the South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) which was attending to a patient there.
One crew attended, made the gas main safe and ventilated the property. The incident was reported as closed at 10.34am.
The head of response at RBFRS, area manager Andy Mancey, said: "I would like to thank the public once again for taking extra care to reduce the risk of fire and for not calling us unnecessarily during the strike period."
During the strike, a number of firefighters picketed outside Newbury Fire Station (pictured) as part of the dispute over changes to their pensions.
This is the fourth strike staged by members of the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) since September.
The Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) has not confirmed how many of its firefighters were involved in the strike, however stated that a number had signed a contract agreeing not to take part in any strike action when they began their employment.
Emergency fire crews, who underwent crash training course in September, were called in to provide cover during the strike.
The union has also announced the start of a further ballot for other forms of industrial action, which will close on December 4.
