Council shuts Water Street, Hampstead Norreys due to flooding damage




A road will be closed for 21 days due to flooding.

West Berkshire Council has enforced an emergency road closure in Hampstead Norreys after damage to the carriageway caused by flooding.

Water Street was shut on May 2 and will remain closed until May 22 — or until the council is satisfied the restriction is no longer necessary.

The closure is from the unnamed road from Ilsley Road to Newbury Hill to Station Hill, Moores Farm to the county boundary.

The diversion will be signed on-site.

The village is one of the areas worst affected by sewage pollution in the district, leading to at least one family being hospitalised, as reported by newburytoday.
