Emergency road closure next week for collapsed sewer works on Northbrook Street, Newbury




Northbrook Street in Newbury is expected to close for a week for emergency repairs to a collapsed sewer.

The road is to be closed from the junction of Mansion House Street to the junction of West Street.

The closure is expected to be in place from January 31 (Monday) until February 7 (Monday).

This is an emergency closure so that repairs can be made to a collapsed sewer in the carriageway, which is in danger of flooding businesses located along its path.

Pedestrian access will not be affected.

Though the works are expected to take place along Northbrook Street only, in order to maintain reasonable access for deliveries and other services, barriers will be erected where the rising bollards are located in Bartholomew Street, (close to the Kennet Shopping centre car park entrance).

Gatemen will be present to facilitate delivery and emergency access along this route.

Delivery access required for businesses located north of West Street will be maintained via Oxford Street and the London Road end of Northbrook Street.

Blue light access through these work will not be possible
