Emergency services at scene of fatal incident in West Mills




Elderly man recovered from water

Emergency services are this morning (Thursday) at the scene of a fatality in West Mills, Newbury.

Two fire engines were called at 7.30am to the junction of Kennet Road and West Mills, where an elderly man was recovered from the water.

Police later today confirmed the incident was a fatality.

South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) was called at 7.25am. A rapid response vehicle, ambulance officer, ambulance and the crew (only) of the Thames Valley Air Ambulance were sent to the scene.

Thames Valley Police (TVP) were called at 7.22am and have said the incident was not being treated as suspicious.

Fire crews left at 8.45am, but police and ambulance services remained at the scene.

The road has been closed whilst investigations continue.
