Emergency services cause a stir in Hermitage
Police and fire vehicles were spotted at Denison Barracks earlier this afternoon (Thursday)
THE presence of several emergency service vehicles at Denison Barracks has caused a stir in the village of Hermitage this afternoon (Thursday).
Fire engines, a police riot van and a van with a satellite communications device were all spotted at the site at around 4pm by local residents, while the main entrance gates appeared to be locked with army personnel present outside the gates and a police cordon in place inside.
However, Thames Valley Police spokesman Adam Fisher has confirmed that all the activity was to do with a training operation, although he said he could not release details of what was involved in the exercise.
It is understood the training operation has now concluded.
