Encouraging healthy choices in schools
New interactive technology funded by Newbury Rotary Club will help encourage healthy lifestyle choices among pupils
PRIMARY school children will be encouraged to make healthy lifestyle choices by new interactive technology funded by Newbury Rotary Club.
The new technology called Qwizdom will be taken to schools across West Berkshire by the Life Education Centres Thames Valley's mobile classrooms.
Qwizdom is an interactive piece of technology that teaches children about health, including how the body works, the importance of healthy diet and exercise and the risks of tobacco.
Roger Feaviour, Chair of Trustees for Life Education Centres Thames Valley and a Rotarian, said: “Some 35,000 primary school children benefited from our visits to their schools across the Thames Valley area in 2009 /2010. We aim to reverse the rising levels of obesity, drinking, smoking and drug use amongst children and young people which are clear indications they are not currently placing health as a priority in their lives.”
