Englefield estate peat fire near Mortimer suspected arson




Smouldering woodland fire deliberate

A peat fire in woodland on the Englefield estate near Mortimer this morning (Thurs) was put down to a suspected arson.

One fire engine from Dee Road Fire Station in Tilehust was called at 11.45am to woodland near Camp Road.

Firefighters discovered a small, smoldering peat fire and extinguished it using a hosereel, before leaving the scene 45 minutes later.

The cause was recorded by the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) as a suspected arson.
