Entries wanted for cat photo competition which raises money for Basingstoke Cat Protection

A couple from Aldermaston are collecting entries for an annual cat photo competition they run which raises money for Basingstoke Cat Protection.

This is the 27th year that David and Marion Canning have run the competition and last year they gave more than £200 to the charity.

Entries to the competition will be displayed at Tadley’s Spring Fair next month where members of the public will vote for their favourites.

The Cannings said: “We don’t know how much longer we can do this but we hope to carry on a year or two more. Thank you all for your past support.”

Photograph entries can be sent via email to davidandmarioncanning@gmail.com or in the post to Helvetia, 20A First Avenue, Ravenswing Park, Winkworth Lane, Aldermaston RG7 4PS.

Entries cost £1 which can be paid via bank transfer to HSBC 40-44-56, 21136240. The Cannings want the entries to be sent ASAP but all photos must be sent by Monday, March 6, by the latest.

Successful entries might also feature in the couple’s 2024 cat calendar, which also raises money for Basingstoke Cats Protection.

The Cannings also create a dog calendar, with all proceeds raised from the sale of that going to Dogs Trust.

Those who wish to see their pet included in one of next year’s calendars should send a photo of them to the Cannings by the end of April.
