'Erratic' driver had been drinking - court

Clare Barclay, prosecuting, said when police caused 23-year-old Ben Alexander Borges to pull over, the black VW Golf he was driving hit the kerb.
She added: “He said he’d borrowed the car from a friend and admitted he had no insurance and was a learner driver with only a provisional licence.”
Tests showed 51mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system. The legal limit is 35mcg.
Mr Borges, of Windsor Court, Newbury, admitted driving after drinking more than the legal limit, driving without insurance and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, all on March 22 in Cherry Close, Newbury.
He also has previous convictions, the court heard.
Representing himself, Mr Borges said he had nothing to say about the offences.
He was banned from driving for 12 months and fined £160 with £45 costs and statutory surcharge of £20.
