Medicine Festival applies to boost capacity at Wasing Park
Medicine Festival has applied to increase its capacity ahead of its summer festival at Wasing Estate.
The application has been made for a full variation of premises licence for Medicine Festival, returning for its fourth year this summer from August 17 to 20.
The festival has applied to increase its capacity to 9,999 maximum (currently allows up to 5,000) and to provide additional hours of live and recorded music.
The additional hours would see music played on Monday from 9am to 12pm (currently 8am to 4pm) and Thursday from 12pm to 1am (currently 12pm to 12am).
Plus, Friday to Sunday from 9am to 1am (live music currently 12pm to 12am, recorded music Friday and Saturday 8am to 4am and Sunday 8am to 12am).
Director of the Medicine Festival, Jenna Ansell, and Josh Dugdale, of Wasing Park, attended a Brimpton Parish Council meeting on Tuesday, July 4, where they informed councillors the festival has grown by approximately 1,000 people per year since it started.
They added they expect 6,000 attendees this year, hence why they have applied to change the licence which currently only allows up to 5,000.
They also said they are using speakers to focus the sound, hay bales for sound insulation and are imposing a decibel limit at several locations to reduce the impact of noise in the surrounding area.
Wasing and Medicine Festival representatives also attended the Aldermaston Parish Council meeting on Tuesday (July 11) to discuss and answer questions about the festival in open forum.
Councillors raised no objections to the application.
