Woolton Hill schoolgirl donates hair and money to children's charity

A BIG-hearted little girl from Woolton Hill has raised money and donated her hair to a children’s cancer charity.

Eva Britton has parted with 12 inches of her long, thick hair to help children supported by the Little Princess Trust.

The charity uses donated hair to make wigs for children who have lost their hair through illness or treatment for diseases.

Eva, aged seven and who has just started at Woolton Hill Junior School, decided to take the chop after her mother Alice mentioned to her that one of her former teachers at St. Thomas’s Infants had recently carried out a charity chop of her own.

Mrs Britton said that Eva had been very positive about the idea from the word go and had pushed for it to happen. The cut took place at Mac Hair in Hungerford last month.

“However, on the day at the salon we could see she was slightly nervous,” Mrs Britton said.

“Her new hair style is fantastic and really suits her and she is happy with it.

Eva has raised £1,243 for the charity so far, going beyond her initial target of £1,000.

“We couldn’t be more proud of our little girl,” Mrs Britton said.

“This is such a selfless and thoughtful idea to have and her attitude towards it shows a maturity and kindness well beyond her years.”
