Event for Mental Health Day
The council’s public health team has created an event to create more awareness around the stigma attached to mental health issues.
West Berkshire's Executive Member for Public Health and Wellbeing, Marcus Franks, (Con, Speen), said, "There are many factors contributing to mental health problems, the stress of our busy lifestyles being just one. Many people report that they are becoming stressed at work and many describe themselves as feeling 'down'.
“Mental illness and depression are difficult for people to both recognise and quantify as they are mostly not clear to see. “This event will be useful to anyone who is suffering or knows someone who is."
The event takes place at Newbury United Reformed Church, Cromwell Place, between 10am and 2pm.
There will be refreshments at the event and a number of information stalls, plus an opportunity for people to talk about how they feel using talking therapies and many other practical aids to helping with mental health issues.
