Kennet School pupils hold 17th reunion in Thatcham

A total of 21 alumni held their 17th reunion at Kennet School in Thatcham on Sunday (October 13).

The former pupils, many of whom joined when the school first opened in 1957, enjoyed tea and refreshments while reminiscing about the old days.

“It’s surprizing how memories turn up when you meet up again after the years,” said organiser David Canning.

Mr Canning met his wife Marion at the school in 1957. The couple celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary this year.

A cake and buffet were also prepared by Mr and Mrs Canning.

Leslie and Rita Cheesebrough did the honours of cutting the cake, both pupils at the school since day one.

The raffle was drawn and the day continued until all gradually departed.
