Ex-Upper Bucklebury subpostmaster wins SPAR industry award
Kate Middleton’s former subpostmaster has won another award.
Hasmukh ‘Hash’ Shingadia – exonerated from his wrongful conviction in the Post Office scandal in 2021 – has been handed another award in recognition of his continued commitment to his community.
Mr Shingadia attended the annual SPAR Retail Show (SRS) at Telford International Centre in June, hosted by comedian and TV presenter Josh Widdicombe.
There, at a gala dinner attended by 1,200 suppliers and independent customers, he was presented with the award for Best Store Team.
Awards entries were open to the whole nation and Mr Shingadia was up against around 500 other shopkeepers, explained Andy Heron, business development manager at AF Blakemore & Son.
AF Blakemore, headquartered in the West Midlands, is the largest SPAR wholesaler in the UK.
“We entered Hash and Chan for the Best Store Team award,” said Mr Heron.
“Working as close to them as I have over the years, I thought it would be apt to put an award entry in for them.”
Mr Shingadia said he was surprised but delighted to receive the award.
