EXCLUSIVE: Is Star Wars being filmed on Greenham Common?
Television crews were spotted working at Greenham Airbase today (Wednesday) sparking rumours that Newbury could yet again be returning to a galaxy far, far away.
Parts of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the seventh film in the massive blockbuster sci-fi franchise, were filmed at the abandoned military facility in 2014.
Exclusive photos brought to you by newburytoday show several alien creatures being filmed at the airbase that look like they could be part of the famous film series.
The large white creature pictured is believed to be Moroff, an alien mercenary that first featured in the 2016 film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
A member of the production crew said that they were filming a television series, but they did not reveal what the series was, who was in it or when it will be released.
Filming for the second season of Andor, a Disney+ series centred on a thief-turned-rebel spy, was reportedly set to get underway in Dorset last week, but it had to postponed due to weather concerns according to Sky News.
The airbase at Greenham Common has been the filming location for multiple movies and television programmes over the years. These include Fast & Furious 9 and an episode of Top Gear.
