Exhibition to remember WW1 Lambourn village life

The Patronal Festival Exhibition at St Michael and All Angels Church is scheduled for the weekend of September 27 and 28 and will include photographs, memorabilia and local family histories.
It will focus on the 35 names on the Lambourn War Memorial and will also include the men from Lambourn Woodlands.
There will also be input from people who now have connections with Lambourn and whose family members served in the war.
One of the organisers, Carol Silk, said: “These things can get lost in the mists of time but it’s important to remember. “As well as finding out about the soldiers, their lives and their families, we wanted to build a picture of village life in wartime Lambourn.”
Exhibition opening times are from 9am to 5pm on Saturday and from 1pm to 6pm on Sunday.
Entry is free. Also, on the Saturday evening there will be a concert featuring Phoenix Brass who will play a varied programme of music from the period. which will also involve the audience participation in singalong. The concert will start at 7.30pm in church. The tickets cost £5 and refreshments are included in the price. They will be available on the door. Alternatively, contact Amanda Marchant in advance on (01488) 670083.
