Police use section 60 powers following knife incident in Eddleston Way, Tilehurst
POLICE have put a Section 60 order in place in Tilehurst following knife violence.
It covers the area shown on the map and gives police extra powers for its duration.
Officers were called at about 6.45pm on Tuesday, July 23, to reports of a group of men fighting with bladed weapons in Eddleston Way Tilehurst.
Two people have been arrested and are currently in police custody.
It is not believed anyone was seriously injured.
Insp Elliot Male, based at Reading police station, said: “This was a concerning incident, and as a result, we have taken the decision to put a Section 60 order in place for a period of 24 hours.
“This means that our officers will have increased powers to carry out stop and search checks.
“Because of this, people will see more officers in the area – please try not to be concerned but this. They are there to carry out an investigation and they will do their best to answer any questions or concerns you might have, so feel free to approach them.
