Extreme heat expected for West Berkshire this weekend




Temperatures are expected to soar at the weekend with highs of 31° Celsius predicted for West Berkshire.

The Met Office issued an amber weather warning for exceptionally high temperatures for Sunday (July 17).

The warning states: 'Some exceptionally high temperatures are possible during Sunday and could lead to widespread impacts on people and infrastructure.'

The weather warning which has been issued across the south of England is in place for 24 hours, from midnight on Sunday, although the Met Office has said the period of hot weather is expected to continue into the early part of next week.

The extreme temperatures could cause population-wide adverse health effects are likely to be experienced according to the national meteorological service for the UK.

Government advice is that 999 services should be used in emergencies only.

The Met Office has advised calling 111 for non-emergency health advice.

It said delays on roads and road closures are possible, along with delays and cancellations to rail and air travel.
