Fair raises £700 for animal welfare charities operating in Ukraine
A Tadley resident raised £700 for two animal welfare charities operating in Ukraine at a fundraising event she organised last month.
Utopia Adaway ran her ‘Stand up With Ukraine FUNdraiser Fair’ at the Ambrose Allen Centre on Saturday, March 18.
The fair had 30 local stalls that sold homemade items such as decor, cards and jewellery as well as baked goods.
There was also a tombola, outside games, a pancake stall, face painter, catering van, jumble stall and photographer.
Miss Adaway said: “I couldn’t do any of it without the wonderful array of stallholders.
“Together, we are such an amazing team of local businesses and people that came together for this event and raised an amazing amount of money for charity.
“With everything still going on in Ukraine it makes me proud to be able to put an event on and raise something for people who so desperately need it.”
She also praised the children’s entertainers Jollypop Entertainment for their “fantastic performance” in the morning and the “wonderful” Ashford Hill Primary School choir for their singing in the afternoon.
The fundraising event was supporting Nowzad and Breaking The Chains, two animal welfare charities that are currently operating in Ukraine and other war-torn countries to help and save affected animals.
This is the third fundraising event Miss Adaway has organised for the charities this year with her fundraising total currently standing at £920. She hoped to raise £1,000 by the summer.
