Fairtrade Fortnight is launched in Thatcham

It kicked off with a service of thanksgiving at the Methodist Church, led by steward Ewan Harvey, with Fairtrade activities for children afterwards.
Thatcham mayor Lee Dillon was joined in the church garden by Dr Harvey, the chairwoman of the Fairtrade campaign steering group, Janette Miranda, town councillor Mike Cole, and former town mayor Stephanie Steevenson, for a photograph by the Fairtrade commemorative tree. It was planted a year ago to mark the first Fairtrade Fortnight celebrations in Thatcham.
There were several other Fairtrade events during the first week, including a quiz at the White Hart pub and storytime for children at the library.
Still to come is the Big Brew morning, from 10am on Saturday, at the Methodist Church Hall, and Fairtrade Fun, at the Nature Discovery Centre, Muddy Lane, from 11am on Saturday, March 10.
