Falkland Island Memorial Chapel hosts Flower Festival

The Falkland Island Memorial Chapel at Pangbourne College is hosting its Flower Festival this weekend.

Christmas is coming early to Pangbourne with a dazzling floral display at the chapel on Saturday (10am-5pm) and Sunday (10am-4pm).

Deck the Halls is a large floral display featuring 80 traditional and contemporary designs organised by Berks, Bucks and Oxon Flowers, each based on a Christmas carol or song, with donations going to two local charities.

Lead designer Shirley Sexton said: "The festival will be stunning, featuring traditional and contemporary Christmas floral decorations complementing the wonderful building in which it will take place. Be prepared to be amazed by the talent."

The festival will include a children's quiz and a silent auction, with refreshments being served in the Pangbourne College Café.

Entry is by donation and all proceeds will be shared between the Falkland Islands Memorial Chapel Trust and the Motor Neurone Disease Association's Reading and West Berkshire Branch.

Berks, Bucks and Oxon Flowers is formed of 36 flower clubs belonging to the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Falklands War and the 35th year of the association's work supporting local families affected by MND, a devastating neurological condition with no cure or effective treatment.
