Fallen tree blocks part of the A34, northbound, between Didcot and Oxford

A FALLEN tree is blocking one lane of the A34 between Didcot and Oxford.

Lane 1 of the northbound carriageway, between the A4183 at Kennington South and the A423/A4183 at Kennington North near Oxford is currently closed.

Delays of more than 60 minutes are being experienced by drivers, with tailbacks stretching for around six miles between Abingdon and Kennington.

Highways England traffic officers are currently on the scene, while tree surgeons are being called in to help clear the tree from the carriageway.

Drivers are being warned to expect severe delays to their journeys or to find an alternative route.
