Pinnock Brothers in Thatcham announces sale to UK's third-largest fuel distributor
A family-run firm in Thatcham has been bought by the UK's third-largest fuel distributor.
NWF Fuels Ltd, registered in Cheshire, took control of Pinnock Brothers Ltd earlier this month.
The family firm, located in Pipers Lane, has been supplying fuel all over Berkshire for more than 150 years.
But its founder Andrew Pinnock stepped down as company director at the end of April.
In a statement, he said: “Meeting NWF Fuels confirmed they share our passion for customer service, which made it an easy decision for us to partner with them on the sale of our business.
“We wanted to make sure our staff were taken care of, and our reputation was maintained.
“We’re really pleased the team and business will stay local, continuing to offer the great service our customers depend on.”
Mr Pinnock did not respond to newburytoday’s request for further comment.
The firm will continue trading but will now form part of NWF Fuels’ group of businesses.
The fuel giant said it has committed to a 15-year lease on its yard.
NWF Fuels sales director Mark Adcock added: “We are proud to announce the acquisition of Pinnock Brothers, strengthening our position in the domestic heating oil market.
“Andrew and his team have built a great reputation servicing domestic customers across Berkshire.
“Their Thatcham depot is a great fit within our existing depot network and will enable us to provide unrivalled service throughout the region.
“We are pleased to welcome nine members of the team to the business and look forward to our future growth together.”
