Family fun day in Kingsclere




A range of fun-packed family activities will be on offer at the Fieldgate Centre today (Sunday)

ORGANISERS of a huge event in Kingsclere today (Sunday), to raise funds for the charity Help for Heroes, are hoping for lots of local support.

A myriad of fun-packed family activities includes:

11am darts knockout competition,

12.30pm show by Feel the Beat school of dance,

1pm Kingsclere rugby club versus Army soldiers match and 2.30pm annual pub cricket match.

Also on offer will be: a fire engine display, treasure hunt, egg and spoon race, pull rope game, sumo suits, bouncy castle, face painting and a cake store, children's activities, with all-day barbecue and salads and hog roast.

In the evening, musical entertainment will be provided by Gary Miles, with an auction of promises hosted by celebrity auctioneer, Thomas Plant of the BBC television programmes, Bargain Hunt and Flog It.

Raffle prizes will include a dress donated by celebrity/television presenter, Fearne Cotton.

A grand opening takes place at 11am at the Fieldgate Centre, Fieldgate Drive, with Kingsclere's very own Second World War hero, Jim Bessing, of the Kingsclere branch of the Royal British Legion, together with other local heroes set to depart for Afghanistan in September.
