Family smashes target but they will keep on running and skydiving
Team Jackson will be raising money for JDRF, formerly known as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, to help their son Oliver.
The 13-year-old’s lifelong battle with diabetes began when he was admitted to intensive care in a life threatening coma when he was just 15 months old.
His mother, Nicky Jackson, said: “As Ollie developed diabetes at such a young age it is vital that his diabetes is very well controlled, otherwise he is at risk of developing kidney damage, heart disease, blindness, amputation, hearing impairments and osteoporosis.
“Ollie’s life expectancy on average is also reduced by up to 15 years.”
The family had set out to raise a modest £500, but so far has collected more than £1,600.
Last Saturday saw them accelerating to 100mph on Snowdonia’s almost a mile-long zip wire, the longest and fastest in Europe.
