Famous faces at county show today
TELEVISION presenters John Craven and Clare Balding are at the Royal County of Berkshire Show today (Sunday).
They will be on hand to meet and greet members of the public.
By 10am the Chieveley showground was beginning to fill up as the threat of rain receded.
Newbury MP Richard Benyon, who farms locally and has entered cattle into the show, said: "It's hugely important for the agricultural community but it's also much wider than that.
"It's a real chance for people to meet up at the end of summer and get really good deals and bargains. And, subliminally, it's a way of people connecting the food on their plate to how it's produced."
As well as livestock, including reptiles, otters and owls, there are demonstrations in the cookery theatre throughout the day, a chance to sample local produce and ales and a spectacular fly-past by World War Two air icon, the Spitfire.
