Fans asked to stay off pitch ahead of Reading cup game tonight
Police say it is a criminal offence
THAMES Valley Police is reminding fans not to run on to the pitch at any point during Reading's FA Cup quarter final clash against Crystal Palace at the Madejski Stadium tonight (Fri).
The Royals will be looking to claim another Premier League scalp to book their place in the semi-final at Wembley.
But supporters are being reminded not to let the excitement get the better of them.
Around 23,500 people are expected to attend tonight's game, which kicks off at 7.55pm.
There will be an enhanced police presence at the game and around the town centre due to the large number of fans attending.
Sgt Richard Noone from TVP Tactical and Football Operations said: "Should there be a winning team on the night we strongly advise fans to stay in their seats and not to enter the playing area.
"I would like to remind fans that it is a criminal offence to go onto the pitch.
"We want both sets of fans to have an enjoyable evening and wish both teams the best of luck."
Police say there will be increased traffic on the roads and advised fans to take this into account when they are planning their journey.
