West Berkshire planners say Hungerford storage barn needs no consent
PLANNERS have ruled that building a steel storage barn on land at Cobbs Farm Shop and Kitchen in Hungerford constituted 'permitted development'.
Hungerford Town Council's environment and planning committee recently voted to offer no objection, in its advisory capacity.
The application stated: "The applicant is keen to expand on the range and variety of produce they grow, but are reluctant to do so without confidence that any equipment they invest in can be stored safely and securely."
In the event, planners decided that the proposals fell under the category of permitted development, meaning formal planning permission was not necessary.
A planning officer's report stated: "The application states that the new building would be for the storage of agricultural machinery required and secure storage of other equipment and fertiliser.
"Given the overall size of the holding and the nature of the farming undertaken on the site, it is considered that the development is reasonably necessary for the purposes of agriculture."
