Thames Valley Police appeal for witnesses to fatal car crash




A man in his eighties has died after being involved in a crash in Newbury this afternoon.

At 12.20pm Thames Valley Police officers were called to a single vehicle collision involving a silver BMW on Andover Road, near to its junction with Monkswood Close.

No other vehicles were involved and nobody else was injured, but the man died of his injuries at the scene.

Senior investigating officer Sergeant Martin York of the Joint Operations Roads Policing Unit, based at Abingdon, said: “Tragically as a result of this incident, a man has died of his injuries.

“Our thoughts are with his family, who are being offered support by officers at this difficult time.

“I am appealing to anybody who witnessed the collision or who may have dash-cam footage of the collision or the moments leading up to it, to please get in touch with Thames Valley Police.

“You can do so by making a report online or by calling 101, quoting reference number 43220433994.

“At this early stage of the investigation, we are not looking for any other vehicles or drivers in relation to this collision.”

Andover Road is re-open again following the incident.
