Faulty telephone mast causes problems for 02 customers in Lambourn

One village 02 user, Mel Smith of Lynch Lane, said: “The signal went down on Friday, July 18. We went from full coverage to nothing at all. When I telephoned the company they said they would have it fixed by Monday.”
Ms Smith said that, when the lack of coverage continued, she again contacted 02 and was told to wait another 48 hours.
She said: “This continued for days until on Friday, July 25, I was told - rather rudely, I thought - that there was no point in continuing to ring because they would fix it as soon as they could and there was no timetable. They said there might be a spare part that needed replacing and it might have to come from half way round the world.
“They did say it was a priority but this does not seem like a good service to me. Lots of my friends, who also pay for the 02 service, have been affected.”
The 02 online Live Status Checker for Lambourn stated this week: “Sorry, a phone mast close to you isn't working. This means you might experience problems making calls, using the internet, or sending/receiving emails in this area.”A spokesman for O2, John Maley, said: "Our site in Lambourn developed a problem which may have resulted in some customers experiencing intermittent service in the area. A replacement part was ordered and fitted today with service fully restored at 1pm this afternoon. We apologise for any inconvenience."
