Feast of fetes in West Berkshire
Several fetes will be held in schools and villages across the district today (Saturday)
SEVERAL villages and schools in West Berkshire and North Hampshire will be holding their annual fetes today (Saturday).
- The St Bart's Parents Association food festival and fete will be held at St Bartholomew's School between 12pm and 3pm, with fete stalls, a hog roast and barbecue, a salad bar, cafe and Pimm's and real ale tent.
There will also be live entertainment and music, a plant sale and much more.
The event will be opened by chef Chris Horridge from The Fine Dining Academy and he will also be judging the Ready Steady Cook competition.
- Basildon Primary School will host a traditional English garden party fete today (Saturday).
Entry is free and attractions will include pony rides, an ice-cream parlour, an old fashioned sweet stall, Punch & Judy show, bouncy castle, temporary beauty 'salon' for little girls and a penalty shootout.
There will also be a silent auction with prizes including piano lessons and a day with Gary Lineker and the Walkers crisps team as they film the next television advert.
The fete takes place on the school grounds in School Lane from 11am until 3pm.
- Lambourn Primary School will host its annual fete between 12noon and 3pm.
There will be plenty to see and do, including children's competitions, stalls and games, along with refreshments and entertainment.
- Fir Tree Primary School in Newbury will also host its annual summer fete today between 1pm and 3pm.
- St Martin's Primary School will hold its annual summer fete between 2.30pm and 6pm.
The event will feature a bouncy castle, traditional stalls, games and competitions, a barbecue and a bar.
There will also be a football tournament, while local jazz duo Idle Words will play from 3.15pm to 5.15pm.
