Feelgood fortnight launch by mayor

Lots to see in Newbury's Market Place

Pots and pans will be at the ready in Newbury’s Market Place this morning (Saturday) at the Master Chef’s Challenge, part of the fun-packed launch of West Berkshire’s Feel Good Fortnight.

At 10.30am, the mayor of Newbury, Jo Day, will officially launch the fortnight of activities, with coffee and cake available from 10am to noon in Newbury Town Hall chambers.

Music, singing and dancing will be followed by the Master Chef’s Challenge, involving some of the district’s top chefs from restaurants including The Newbury, Brebis, Just Lucky’s and The Bladebone Inn, Chapel Row.

In Northbrook Street, local firefighters will be on hand to show people around a fire engine, while a variety of local groups and organisations will be demonstrating their activities and inviting people to have a go.

As the Feel Good Fortnight gets underway, with free-of-charge activities, children’s entertainment includes art and craft workshops at the Kennet Centre and Easter egg trails at Shaw House.

People can explore their creative side at a series of photography workshops at libraries across the district – or get active at free volleyball, judo and gym sessions and street dance lessons.

Adventure Dolphin, Pangbourne, will be offering free open day sessions, including canoeing, wall climbing and other activities.

Highlights include a Spring Family Wildlife Day at the Nature Discovery Centre in Thatcham.

Feel Good Fortnight runs until April 25. For a full list of events, visit http://feelgoodfortnight.co.uk.gridhosted.co.uk/ whats-on/
