Wash Common comes together for community festival
A celebration event saw Wash Common come together for a day of music, games and food.
Held in Falkland Cricket Club on Saturday (September 28), visitors could enjoy visiting stalls, playing games and enjoying refreshments.
The fourth Wash Common Community Festival was opened by a performance from the East Woodhay Silver Band, followed by Newbury Ukulele Band, The Unwashed Commoners and The Spare Heads, who provided a range of gutsy rock and roll numbers.
Between sets, DJs from Kennet Radio played some hits.
The Scouts provided burgers and hot dogs on a barbecue while in the Cricket Pavilion tea and cakes were available courtesy of the the Wash Common Garden and Crafts Show.
Community groups set up more than 20 stalls around the ground, giving them a chance to raise funds and help people understand more about their work.
They included Newbury Town Council, with councillors present to offer an impromptu surgery, and share more about its work within the community.
Among the special guests were Newbury MP Lee Dillon and the mayor Andy Moore.
They took time to visit the stalls and speak with volunteers and attendees.
Activities for children included a free-to-use bouncy castle and a slide.
