Publicity committee member Claire Quirke said: “Given the poor weather in the run up to the fete and some rain on the afternoon of the fete, the numbers are a testament to the event’s popularity and the hard work of volunteers.

“We would very much like to thank all our charity volunteers and all fete volunteers for their commitment and hard work, and we very much look forward to planning for another great fete next year.”

The charities receiving donations include the Yattendon Sports and Social Trust, Charlie Waller Trust, Newbury Riding for the Disabled and West Berks Foodbank.

Many of these charities supplied volunteers to run the gates, supervise parking and to help with the general smooth running of the fete.

A number of other local charities including the 1st Cold Ash Scout Group, Connecting Communities in Berkshire, John Simonds Trust and Newbury Cancer Care will also receive donations in recognition of their hard work.
