Field of dreams

The field is part of Nugent Farms, whose owners decided to return the field to to permanent ‘stewardship’ under an agreement with English Nature, and so it has been planted with a natural downland grass mix.
This allowed the poppies to flourish in such a spectacular way.
Sara Bartlett, whose husband Frank works at the farms and is pictured amidst the blooms, said: “Hordes of people have been coming up to the field to take pictures.”
