Final Didcot transformer being transported this weekend

Thames Valley Police are advising drivers to expect serious disruption as the enormous load, under a police escort, will straddle both lanes and travel at a maximum speed of 10mph when it leaves Didcot at 7pm tonight.
The 638 tonne, 291ft load will be carried on a girder trailer with three tractors, one pulling and two pushing.
It will travel along the A4130 to the Milton interchange then south along the A34 to junction 13 of the M4 (Chieveley) before parking overnight at Membury services.
It will then leave Membury at 10am on Saturday morning, escorted by Wiltshire Police along the M4, turning off onto the A46 at junction 18.
The convoy will then head on to the A420 where it will be handed over to Avon and Somerset Police on the way to its final UK destination in Avonmouth docks.
The transformer was scheduled to be moved last weekend but operator Npower said there was a problem with the transporter lorry.
The rescheduling could cause problems for those planning on travelling to West Berkshire for tomorrow's Hennessey Gold Cup.
