Fink Street Food makes shortlist for national enterprise award
Street food provider Fink Street Food has been announced as a finalist in the prestigious UK Social Enterprise Awards, which recognises enterprises with a cause.
The pop-up can be found outside The Globe pub in Batholomew Street, Newbury, every Saturday, between 11.30am and 8.30pm.
In addition, it markets its range at the White Horse pub in Hermitage every Wednesday between 6pm and 8.30pm, and can also be found at Newbury's monthly Artisan Market.
Most of Fink's profits are donated to mental health charities and projects, with more than £10,000 given since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In addition, the firm has offered wellbeing-themed cookery classes to vulnerable youths in the district.
Fink co-founder James Reid said: "Our business was hugely impacted by the pandemic, but it's so great that our customers have rallied around us, enabled us to grow and helped us build a business that gives back to our community.
"We can’t wait to celebrate and spread the mental health message at the awards ceremony."
Enterprise UK chief executive Peter Holbrook said: "The UK Social Enterprise Awards are back, bigger and better than ever before.
"We have had a record number of applications this year, all of which have showcased the strength, dynamism and resilience of the social enterprise community through what’s been an incredibly difficult and uncertain period.
"Over the course of the pandemic social enterprises have been going above and beyond the call of duty to support their teams, the individuals, and communities they work with, showing the grit, determination and innovation so inherent to this sector.
"They've been operating directly on the frontline of the crisis, launching new products and pivoting their business models to meet the needs of communities and society as a whole.
"The awards are all about celebrating the achievements of the UK’s social enterprise movement, which is showing us that another way of doing business is possible – one which has never been more important as we look to build back better and address the climate emergency."
The 'One to Watch' category of the Social Enterprise Awards, which Fink has been nominated in, recognises qualifying businesses with strong future potential.
The results of the awards will be unveiled in full at a ceremony in London's Guildhall today (December 8).
