Newbury's Fir Tree Primary School pay respects to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor
Pictures and letters written by pupils at a Newbury school have been placed at the gates of Windsor Castle, writes Max Carter Keall.
On Tuesday night, members of staff from Fir Tree Primary School and Nursery visited Windsor Castle to pay their respects to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Teaching assistants, Kerry Fowler and Katelyn Braginton, headed to the castle with a booklet containing pictures and letters written to the Queen by pupils at the school.
They also took a colourful collage made by pupils in Year 2 to “show their respect” for the late Queen.
The school held a special assembly to mark the death of the Queen, in which the students undertook a minute of respectful silence.
They also put on the live feed of the procession on Thursday, and have previously celebrated her Platinum Jubilee.
During their visit, Miss Fowler and Miss Braginton were allowed to hop over the barrier and take a few photos to take back for the students.
They described the day as “emotional and beautiful” as thousands of people laid down a carpet of flowers, teddies and letters for the Queen.
