Resident given emergency care after fire at retirement home in Thatcham

One person was injured by a fire in Thatcham yesterday (Sunday).

Two fire crews from Newbury and one from Theale responded to a call at 1.07pm of a fire at Nevil Court retirement home, located along The Moors.

Upon arrival, crews discovered there had been a fire in the kitchen of a flat, which was out on arrival.

But they gave immediate emergency care to one casualty at the scene, who was then placed into the care of South Central Ambulance Service.

Crews were on the scene for one hour and eight minutes.
