Fire at Wiltshire Tyres on A4 Bath Road in Thatcham
A fire broke out yesterday (Tuesday) at a commercial building in Thatcham.
Fire crews were called Wiltshire Tyres on the junction of Bath Road and Green Lane at 3.53pm and remained at the scene for eight hours.
Upon arrival, crews found a fire at a single-storey building involving acetylene cylinders and asked that the area was avoided if possible.
Two Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Newbury attended the fire with crews from Windsor and Theale and have said the area is now safe.
RBFS said: "The Windsor crew were in the area and were close at the time of call, so responded alongside our other crews."
An Incident Command Unit and two officers were also on the scene.
A safety cordon was put in place and people are advised to avoid the area while emergency services attend the incident.
At around 7.43pm on Tuesday evening Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service said incident was stable but likely to be protracted as firefighters worked to cool the acetylene cylinders
This morning it said the area was safe and crews had left the scene.
"After extinguishing the fire, firefighters successfully cooled the cylinders, before making the area safe.
"They were on the scene for about 8 hours, leaving the scene at midnight and handing over to Thames Valley Police."
